Message From the University of Yamanashi President: “Promoting Further University Transformation Triggered by J-PEAKS Selection”

The following President’s Message regarding J-PEAKS has been sent to all faculty and staff of the University of Yamanashi.
Initiatives for Strengthening Research Capabilities Across the Entire University
In light of our selection for J-PEAKS, we have established the Global Research Institute for Energy & Environmental Neutrality (GR/EEN) and will drive forward the advancement of this research field. Furthermore, we will pursue initiatives aimed at strengthening university-wide research capabilities, not only at advancing this field.
Specifically, the following initiatives are being considered.
○ Securing dedicated research time for faculty
- Expanding support personnel for research and education (URAs, UEAs, and laboratory technicians)
- Establishing efficient talent acquisition strategies (talent banks and personnel-sharing systems)
○ Reducing the workload of faculty and staff
- Streamlining and improving operational efficiency through collaborative efforts between faculty and staff
- Reducing the administrative workload for faculty and staff (through DX promotion and effective use of AI)
○ Refining the personnel evaluation system (reflection in compensation, etc.)
- Development of an evaluation system that enhances motivation
- Establishment of evaluation methods, ensuring performance-based personnel
○ Promoting interdisciplinary research
- Development of frameworks to expand interdisciplinary research (core facilities, etc.)
- Broadly opening shared equipment and common spaces to both internal and external users
○ Enhancing talent development and social implementation by industry-academia-government- finance collaboration
- Talent development that accurately addresses the needs of the regional community
- Social implementation of research outcomes and feedback to the region through industry-government-academia-finance collaboration
○ Strengthening the university management through collaboration among faculty, staff, and students
- Fostering a collaborative mindset among faculty, staff, and students to achieve the university’s vision
- Creating frameworks that enable faculty, staff, and students to engage in creative activities with open-minded and innovative ideas
